Reports from workers pointed the finger of blame on a short circuit in a store room as the cause of the fire that injured seven people, including two firemen, who were hurt as part of the factory collapsed.

City Chief Fire Officer Ehtisham Udin Siddiqi said that half of the building collapsed while the remaining portion was declared very dangerous and could collapse any time. The firefighters were trying to douse it under extreme danger, he said. "There are no emergency stairs, no source of water and they have not installed any fire safety equipment," he maintained.
